Your vimrc.vim really isn't the right way to distribute language-specific features.

Yes. It was laziness more than ignorance. I don't fully grok the vimscript mental model, and there's always the fear that somebody else's settings might interact poorly with these. In my experience, inlining settings in the vimrc has been the most simple and reliable way to ensure they work out of the box and don't get accidentally overridden by something else. At the cost of being a bad citizen :)

But I've taken the trouble to think things through now, and this should follow best practices: http://github.com/akkartik/wart/commit/deabc891e8#diff-1. Now that it's done, it's nice to see all the rules laid out cohesively rather than as tweaks on the much more complex rules for lisp.
